S. Florida companies get Haiti work - need workers

Bergeron Emergency Services, a division of Pembroke Pines-based Bergeron Land Development, has  partnered with a Haitian company to establish a private seaport just 6 miles from Port-au-Prince. Bergeron outlined plans to import relief food and construction materials, and to secure a contract to build 150,000 apartments in Port-au-Prince. Bergeron did not immediately return a call seeking an update on his Haitian ventures.

Jacksonville-based shipping company Crowley Liner Services received a contract worth up to $22 million from the U.S. military to provide emergency port services in Haiti. The contract with the U.S. Transportation Command is to repair piers and beaches, provide warehousing, cargo consolidation and transport cargo.Crowley also subcontracted about $500,000 in work to Associated Marine Salvage, a company based on the Miami River.

Seacor Holdings the Fort Lauderdale-based diversified energy services provider, said it was hired to rebuild an area of the seaport in Port-au-Prince that receives and stores more than 70 percent of Haiti’s oil, including gas, diesel, propane and edible oils.

Contact these companies right away and begin the application process! More on the way stay tuned.
